Target Audience

This program is intended for primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates/physician assistants, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team who manage patients at risk for NVAF.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performances of learners regarding the implications of undiagnosed NVAF, methods to improve detection and NVAF management, and strategies for reducing disparities in NVAF care.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify potential consequences of undiagnosed NVAF and the effect of SDOH and disparities in care on NVAF outcomes

  • Screen at-risk patients for NVAF in accordance with guideline recommendations and evidence-based techniques in a variety of healthcare settings, such as primary care and pharmacies

  • Incorporate guideline recommendations, clinical trial evidence, and patient-specific factors to select DOACs for appropriate patients diagnosed with NVAF

  • Implement strategies for collaborative, patient-centered care and to address SDOH to improve NVAF management and reduce health disparities
