Atopic dermatitis (AD) affects people of all ages, races, and ethnicities and has a substantial psychosocial impact on patients and their relatives. There are differences in AD prevalence among different racial and ethnic groups, with Black, Asian, and Hispanic individuals being more likely to have AD compared with non-Hispanic White people. The clinical presentation of AD also varies by skin color; thus, clinicians must be aware of the distinctions that exist among different patient populations.
