Target Audience

Primary care nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician associates (PAs) managing patients with obesity.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in prioritizing obesity management, identifying patients who could benefit from pharmacologic treatment, and engaging patients in nonbiased discussions to achieve effective and sustained weight loss.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Use recommended approaches to engage in discussions of obesity management with patients

  • Formulate strategies for use of AOMs based on efficacy and safety evidence, guideline recommendations, and patient factors and preferences

  • Develop individualized patient-centered plans for the long-term maintenance of weight loss
