Influenza poses a unique challenge to healthcare providers with variations in annual strains, seasonality, and the need to encourage annual vaccination to vaccine-hesitant patients. In addition, it can be difficult to discern flu from other respiratory illnesses—including COVID-19. Various testing platforms, antivirals, and vaccines are available to help providers diagnose, manage, and prevent influenza and provide optimal care; this activity provides clinical pearls for use of these components in clinical practice, with a focus on high-risk patients.
