The challenges of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) include differentiating it from other arthritides, evaluating the dermatologic manifestations, monitoring disease activity, and choosing from a multiplicity of therapies. In this module, an expert panel discusses what can—and should—be expected of rheumatology NPs/PAs when they assess and manage PsA, and how to train them to work as autonomously as possible.
This activity was developed in collaboration with the Association of Women in Rheumatology (AWIR).
After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Summarize evidence for the need for and potential role of NPs and PAs in rheumatology practices
- Develop strategies for the team-based care of rheumatology patients that enables NPs and PAs to provide patient care at the highest level of their licenses
- Identify current and emerging treatments for rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and PsA, relative to indications, safety profiles, and monitoring considerations
