The Opioid REMS Microlearning Initiative is intended to reach the entire healthcare team including physicians, advanced practice nurses, physician associates/physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists, and social workers. Specialty areas include, but are not limited to, physiatry, psychiatry, neurology, family medicine, internal medicine, oncology, pain management, and surgery. This includes HCPs who are involved with direct patient care, including HCPs registered with the DEA and eligible to prescribe all opioid analgesics, as well as non-prescribers involved in the care of patients receiving opioid analgesic therapy, nonpharmacologic therapies, and nonopioid analgesic therapies.
The goal of this program is to optimize learners' translation of pain management knowledge into practice, including the role and risks of opioids and strategies to minimize adverse outcomes of opioid use.
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Identify fundamental concepts of pain management, including mechanisms of pain; risk factors for misuse, abuse and opioid use disorder; and appropriate assessment of pain
