2025 Skin in the Game: Dermatology Intensive for NPs and PAs

This virtual program is a dynamic, case-based educational series designed to enhance the expertise of nurse practitioners and physician associates in diagnosing and managing complex dermatologic conditions. This program features 3 in-depth, 2-hour sessions covering the latest evidence and clinical strategies for treating atopic dermatitis and prurigo nodularis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and systemic mastocytosis, equipping learners with the tools to optimize patient care and improve outcomes.

The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in effort to optimize treatment for patients with atopic dermatitis.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the impact of pruritus on the overall burden of living with AD and PN, highlighting its effects on patient quality of life, disease progression, and the challenges in effective management
  • Incorporate evidence-based tools for the measurement and assessment of itch into clinical practice to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes
  • Develop treatment plans for patients with AD and PN that take into consideration evidence for new and emerging therapies targeting neuroinflammation and itch

Hidradenitis Huddle: Comprehensive Diagnosis and Management Strategies for NPs and PAs to Improve Patient Outcomes

The goal of this educational program is to improve the knowledge and competence of nurse practitioner and physician associate learners in managing patients with hidradenitis suppurativa.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Utilize evidence-based guidelines to diagnose hidradenitis suppurativa in patients presenting with complex or atypical skin lesions
  • Evaluate clinical data of current and emerging therapeutic options for patients with hidradenitis suppurativa, considering patient-specific factors such as comorbidities and treatment history
  • Design personalized treatment plans that include patient preferences, lifestyle factors, and shared decision-making to optimize outcomes
  • Integrate patient perspectives and clinical evidence into collaborative care models that enhance communication and improve adherence to treatment plans

Mastocytosis Mayhem: Comprehensive Diagnosis and Management Strategies for NPs and PAs to Tackle the Unpredictable

Goal Statement
The goal of this educational program is to improve the knowledge and competence of NP and PA learners in managing patients with systemic mastocytosis.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Recognize SM potential diagnosis in patients presenting with a wide range of unexplained symptoms to reduce delays in treatment
  • Implement expert guideline recommended criteria into the diagnosis and subtyping of SM
  • Appraise the clinical safety and efficacy data for new and emerging targeted therapies for SM
  • Develop patient education and shared decision-making strategies to reduce the associated burden of SM
