Target Audience
Primary care nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician associates/physician assistants (PAs) managing patients with obesity.

Goal Statement
The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in prioritizing obesity management, identifying patients who could benefit from pharmacologic treatment, and engaging patients in nonbiased discussions to achieve effective and sustained weight loss. 

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Use recommended approaches to engage in discussions of obesity management with patients
  • Formulate strategies for use of AOMs based on efficacy and safety evidence, guideline recommendations, and patient factors and preferences
  • Develop individualized patient-centered plans for the long-term maintenance of weight loss


Joint Accreditation Statement

ANCC Credit Designation

The maximum number of hours awarded for this Nursing Continuing Professional Development activity is 1.0 contact hour, including 1.0 hour of pharmacology credit.

AAPA Credit Designation

Partners for Advancing Clinical Education (PACE) has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.0 AAPA Category 1 CME credit. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
