  • This session will provide a comprehensive overview of tardive dyskinesia, including risk factors, diagnosis, treatment options, and considerations for special populations. Patient case examples are included to simulate application of knowledge to practice.

10:15 AM – 11:15 AM: Clinical Perspectives on a Treatment Option for Bipolar Depression (Bipolar I and II).

  • Bipolar depression can be debilitating to patients, and difficulties in appropriate diagnosis and comorbidities can add to the challenge. This presentation will explore these challenges, as well as a treatment option approved for BOTH bipolar I and bipolar II depression in adults.

  • This session will cover schizophrenia from diagnosis to treatment options, including clinical pearls for ongoing management. Unmet needs and novel and emerging pharmacologic agents will also be discussed.

12:35 PM – 1:35 PM:  Moving Forward: An Informed Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Tardive Dyskinesia

  • This program provides a straightforward overview of tardive dyskinesia, including its symptoms, prevalence, risk factors, and impact. Faculty will share the clinical data for an FDA-approved treatment option for adults with tardive dyskinesia. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to examine cases of real patients with tardive dyskinesia by observing videos of the patients before and after treatment. This program is non-CME educational content sponsored by Neurocrine Biosciences.

1:45 PM – 2:45 PM: A Better Understanding of Bipolar Depression - Presented by: Tina Matthews-Hayes, DNP, CRNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC

  • This session will review the differential diagnosis of bipolar depression and differentiation of bipolar I and bipolar II to improve diagnostic accuracy. Treatment individualization will be discussed, including current and emerging treatment options for bipolar depression and how to individualize treatment selection for patients.

2:55 PM – 3:55 PM: Arguments for Augmentation: When to Augment vs Switch Medications in MDD - Presented by: Michael Asbach, DMSc, PA-C, Psych-CAQ

  • This session will provide an overview of differentiating switching and augmentation strategies for patients with lack of response in MDD. Evidence-based augmentation strategies, including antidepressants with different mechanisms of action, antipsychotics, and other agents recommended by guidelines, will be further discussed, and reinforced with a patient case demonstration.

4:05 PM – 5:05 PM: PTSD in the Community - Presented by: Tamar Rodney, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, CNE

  • This session will focus on manifestations of trauma in the community setting, diagnosis of PTSD, and current evidence-based treatment of PTSD with pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy tools. Emerging treatment options for PTSD will also be covered.
